Abstract:

Globally, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare is transforming nursing care by enhancing efficiency, decision-making, and patient outcomes. Understanding nurses' perceptions of AI is crucial in shaping training programs and policies to ensure its effective implementation in clinical practice. A quantitative comparative approach with a non-experimental descriptive research design was used to assess the perception of AI in nursing care among nurses working in India and abroad. Using a snowball sampling technique, a sample of 50 nurses (25 from India and 25 from abroad) was selected. Data collection was conducted by a structured questionnaire on Google Forms. The questionnaire, validated by expert reviews, was disseminated through WhatsApp and email. Ethical considerations included informed consent, confidentiality, and data protection. The analysis was done with SPSS software, and included both descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings indicated that a majority of nurses from both India (76.0%) and abroad (88.0%) had an average level of perception regarding the influence of AI in nursing care, and the mean perception scores were 85.74 for nurses in India and 85.84 for nurses abroad, with an unpaired t-value of 0.052 and a significance value of 0.958, indicating no significant difference between the two groups' perception scores. Additionally, no significant association was found between selected demographic characteristics (age, gender, marital status, occupational sector, experience in the nursing profession, current job position, and geographical location of job placement) and the level of perception regarding AI in nursing care. The study concluded that nurses in India and abroad have similar perceptions of AI in nursing care, suggesting that future training and development programs on AI in nursing care should be uniformly designed and implemented to ensure consistent knowledge and perception across different regions.
